Guitar Tex joined us summer of 2008, adding Kremona to their stellar selection of quality instruments. Owner Mark Waldrop is a well-seasoned musician, a veteran of the legendary late-‘60s Greenwich Village and Fillmore East music scenes. Like many great neighborhood music shops, Guitar Tex began with a focus on repairs. “Guitar Wrangler” John Thurston still handles those, offering his 40+ years of  repair experience to loyal customers of Guitar Tex. Mark’s passionate and knowledgeable staff  features acoustic instrument guru Gus Wanner and local music legend John Michael Ramirez, ambassadors to the carefully chosen vintage and new-born acoustic and electric instruments offered at Guitar Tex.  With his forthright, downhome demeanor, Mark eschews the fancy French word “Boutique,” preferring to describe his eclectic mix of great guitars and really good people simply as “An old fashioned, locally owned guitar shop.”

During their Kremona Days event, Guitar Tex helps us celebrate 90 years in the lutherie arts by offering complimentary microfiber polish clothes to customers dropping in to demo their wide selection of Kremona instruments. RC Strings and logo backpacks will be given away to those taking home Kremona guitars during their Kremona Days week. We thank Guitar Tex for their support, invaluable sage advice and for representing us with pride in South Texas.
