Mark Ballas
Mark and Esmeralda Make Tracks
Mark Ballas is probably best known for his ten seasons of stellar performances on ABC TV’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’, including two first-place finishes and an Emmy nomination for choreography in 2011.
Many of the 20+ million viewers who marvel at Mark’s professional dance chops are still unaware of his true passion: music.
Mark began playing the guitar at age ten, trained in classic flamenco. By 12 he was composing his own music, inspired by a wide range of artists including Kurt Cobain, Paco de Lucia, Eric Clapton and John Mayer. In 2011, Mark began carving out his own niche in the music world with his debut solo album HurtLoveBox, featuring a variety of compelling rhythms and soulful melodies which showcased Mark’s talents as an accomplished singer and skilled guitarist.
Though Mark has embarked on a new season with DWTS (he’s paired with reality TV personality Bristol Palin), he remains focused more than ever on his music. Mark has recently been in the studio recording a follow-up to his debut, which – though showing a strong R&B influence-- is reportedly heavier on the flamenco styling that mesmerized him in his youth. We’re excited and pleased that Mark has selected a Kremona Rosa Negra flamenco model to accompany him on his journey as a recording artist. In fact, Mark is so enamored with his new Kremona, he has named her “Esmeralda.” We wish Mark and Esmeralda all the best!
